Each year since 1990, CQ Roll Call has reviewed the financial disclosures of all 541 senators, representatives and delegates to determine the 50 richest members of Congress. This year’s report, derived from forms covering the calendar year 2013, shows it took a net worth of $7.47 million to crack the exclusive club. The wealthiest lawmakers with breakdowns of their assets and liabilities is found here.
Although Republicans took the top two spots this year, Democrats filled out the rest of the top 10. Fifteen are senators, 35 are representatives. And the list is dominated by veteran members such as seven-term California Republican Rep. Darrell Issa, the wealthiest lawmaker, whose car-alarm fortune and high-yield bonds drove his net worth to more than $357 million and earned him the No. 1 spot for the second year in a row.
Two of the Top Ten are women, both Democrats, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (CA) and Rep. Suzan Delbene (WA).
