Ohio Governor John Kasich hired veteran New Hampshire activist Paul Collins for his New Day for America group. Collins’ hiring is a strong indicator the Ohio governor is close to jumping into the crowded 2016 GOP Presidential primary.
Collins has a lengthy history in New Hampshire politics, most recently serving as a top adviser to candidate for Congress Dan Innis.
His roots go back to former Gov. John H. Sununu’s administration in the State House corner office, and he later worked for the elder Sununu in the White House as Special Assistant to the President for Political Affairs. Collins has also worked for former U.S. Rep. Charlie Bass and was chief of staff for John E. Sununu in both the U.S. House and the U.S. Senate.
He is a past executive director of the New Hampshire Republican State Committee and served as campaign manager for Ovide Lamontagne’s campaign manager in 2012.
Gearing up a New Hampshire grassroots presence is usually the leading indicator of a Presidential campaign.
