2016 Election, Donald Trump, Elections

95 percent chance Mike Pence will be Donald Trump’s VP

Donald Trump is expected to announce his running mate within the next few days, and Republican insiders have reason to believe that he’ll tap Indiana Gov. Mike Pence:

Constitutional lawyer James Bopp, an Indiana delegate to the Republican National Convention who is close the governor, told The Washington Times that Indiana House Speaker Brian C. Bosma, 58, a conservative Republican, had sought advice from him on running for governor.

“He wanted my counsel on what he needed to do to set himself up to run for governor, because he expects Pence to step down as governor in order to be Trump’s running mate,” Mr. Bopp said in an interview.

The Trump election team boosted the Pence speculation Sunday by suddenly adding a campaign rally in Indianapolis to a fundraiser planned for Tuesday featuring Mr. Trump and Mr. Pence.

Several Republicans close to the campaign and to the governor have told The Times over the last 24 hours that they are now convinced it’ll be Mr. Pence.

Mr. Bopp, also a member of the convention’s rules committee, told The Times that the “rally made it a 95 percent probability it’s Pence.”

Mike Pence is well respected among conservative circles, and his selection for vice president could persuade more conservatives to vote for Trump.

Good grief, Mike Pence is a career politician. He was in congress for decades. In addition, he’s not conservative enough & since Indiana already votes republican, pence won’t help him get nominated & win the presidency.

There are a lot of Democrats out there that are not sold on Hillary and they are concerned that Sanders may be a bit too far of a turn to the Liberal Left. Pence’s far Right record would likely force these undecided Democrats to stay with their party’s chosen candidate regardless of which one is ultimately selected. The Pence selection is obviously an offering to the hard core far Right Wing of the party that doesn’t think they can control Trump ! Trump needs to keep in mind that Social Security and Medicaid are two long term programs that are currently under fire from both parties who are looking for new sources of revenue to fund their wealthy supporter’s pet projects and over fifty million American seniors, both Democrat and Republican voters, are dependent on these programs for their vary existence. Surely their is a Republican moderate out their who would attract dispossessed Democrats. Surely their is a Republican moderate out their who is tired of being called a RINO by members of his own party !
