VA continues to fail veterans

7

The suicide of a 76 year old Navy veteran in the parking lot of a VA hospital after being denied emergency care is just the latest shock coming from the government health care system set up specifically to ensure that our nation’s returning warriors get treatment they need and what was promised to them.

The latest VA related death occurred two years after a massive scandal at the Veteran’s Administration revealed that thousands of veterans were not receiving critical care in a timely fashion, showing that rather than reformed, the VA is just as bad as ever. While our veterans continue to wait on the adequate care the government has promised, President Obama seems to have left this task to the next administration to handle.

John Cooper, a spokesman for Concerned Veterans for America told the Washington Times of April 2016 that “it has taken the VA two years to propose firing three senior leaders responsible for the Phoenix VA scandal, which led to nearly 300 veterans dying waiting for care.”

A lack of accountability and efficiency still plagues the system and veterans are continuing to suffer because of it, meanwhile the Obama administration consistently deceives the public and makes light of the situation.

In April, Military Times reported that VA Secretary Bob McDonald said 97 percent of VA appointments are completed within 30 days, with an average wait time of three to six days, despite a report from the Government Accountability Office showing that patients new to the VA health care system wait three to eight weeks for medical care. Often veterans cannot even see a primary care doctor at all due to, disorganized scheduling systems and mismanagement by VA workers.

But when Secretary McDonald was questioned at a media breakfast about the wait times he responded with “When you go to Disney, do they measure the number of hours you wait in line? What’s important is what’s your satisfaction with the experience, and that’s really the kind of measure I want to move to”

Comparing wait times which result in the death and delayed care of our nations veterans is hardly comparable to wait times at Disneyland. Yet to the Obama administration, this is how the VA dilemma is seen.

This past June a 15-member Commission on Care, made up mostly of health care professionals and veterans’ organization leaders, came together to analyze VA productions and develop suggestions for Congressional reform.

The findings of the Commission were clear “care delivered by VA is inconsistent from facility to facility, and can be substantially compromised by problems with access, service, and poorly functioning operational systems and processes…Fixing these problems requires deliberate, concurrent, and sequential actions.”

Fixing the VA has become a matter of an entire cultural change within the system; discarding all inefficient policies, doctored information, and archaic practices which fostered the current chaos. However, in the months since this report was released, once again Secretary McDonald has done nothing and the Obama Administration has allowed it.

If nothing else the VA catastrophe represents the lack of medical innovation and rampant corruption which comes with government mandated health care.

President Obama’s inaction makes one question if the American people will demand an administration which makes protecting those who protect us a priority, or will the benign neglect of the needs of those who served be allowed to continue because the problem is believed to be too big to solve.

Turkey has already Defeated ISIS The VA is already fixed. The VA in Aurora is Complete and taking new patients was finished under budget. Hillary never lied Crap fooled by the Media again predictions of a future that never happened. America will survive Blew that one too. The fed government has been taken over by Nimrods . After seven years in the military, I immediately got a civilian job with private healthcare insurance so I never used my VA benefits because I wanted to preserve them for those who were wounded in combat. No one who volunteered to serve in our military would have even suspected that the Government would limit funding for healthcare provided to the people who risked their lives to preserve our freedoms !

Why blame Obama the same thing has been going on since WWII, the VA is all about politics and not about the veterans, the Government promised me and my wife life time medical, dental and eye care, Then in 1992 the Government said they never authorized it, even though they were the ones advertising it to the new recruits and reenlistees..It is all political the Government will immediately put you in harms way and then deny you the medical help you need once you have been injured in the line of duty.

Hmmmm…. 1992. Interesting year, that. Do you remember who was running that show in 1992, Bobbykins? I give thanks every day that I was able to retire in 1991 and don’t have to hide my retirement certificate.

I retired if you call it that in 1996 when we sold the Business, weathered every administration for 35 years, never took any Government hand outs and filed out taxes truthfully, it is not the Government that kills businesses it is the fact that people get into business because they want to be rich or set back and act rich, I have seen three businesses go belly up in my area just because the were not run properly, One the owner tried to act like a rich playboy jetting everywhere paying thousands f dollars for to eat with the bowl winners, when he should have been taking care of his business. In the 28 years I was actively in the business we had probably 20 one week vacations and we the other co-owners and myself did not set in some fancy office we worked on the floor every day, We limited our pay to 10 times what the highest paid worker was making, most about $25 hour, and did profit sharing yearly.
There is a great environment in this country for a business once you d your homework about the demand for your product ans are willing to hustle and work hard, most small business owners work harder than their employees to make the business successful.
After 35 years and starting in debt we sold in 1996 for over $400 million and had 700 workers when we started with 6
Just look at the whole picture not the picture put up by either party to get you to support them.
I am an independent and have been all my life.

It will be a “GOOD DAY” when you pull your head out of your backside and wake the eff up… but I don’t expect to see that happen in this life. You will still be blaming Bush-43 when the Clinton Depression causes a total collapse of the US economy. I hope you stay in the city, which ever one it is – when the fall comes, those people are going to be the first ones to die. Hope your mother’s recipe for stew is adaptable to dog, squirrel, and “long pig”.

If your head was somewhere except in the Conservative Republican webb sites you might get a good picture of the facts. When Clinton left office the Government had a surplus.
A lot of Obama’s debt is carry over from long term contracts Bush made. These are bad times not made by the President but by businesses that moved for cheap labor. so the tax base is down and no jobs so public support is up,
The greedy corporations who moved from this country caused most of the monetary problems, and it was pure greed, Companies from foreign countries are in the USA expanding and hiring and making huge profits. Look at the facts the only car made in America Toyota Camry, the second car will be a Subaru when their plant is done in 2017, both companies keep expanding and hiring, and they do not get as much assistance from the US government as American Companies.
Wake up and smell the roses Clinton is a deplorable person in my opinion, but he was not the cause of what happened on his watch this was building for some time since Regan cut the taxes for the rich and Bush removed the regulations on the stock market. All these things are on non political webb sites. Go look some time they are better information than you get from either party, Conservatives or Liberals.
It is a proven fact that the people who live in the city and are poor will survive the longest in any disaster.
        HAVE A NICE DAY
