Donald Trump’s campaign took a big hit when lewd comments he made in 2005 suddenly resurfaced on Friday. In fact, his odds of winning the presidency dropped by 9 percentage points according to bettors. However, thanks to an aggressive performance at the second presidential debate Sunday night, he managed to stop the bleeding:
Say you were a Republican lawmaker contemplating breaking with Trump. You didn’t do it Saturday, when several GOP officials jumped, because you wanted to see how Trump would do in the debate Sunday night. Now you’ve seen it — a more aggressive, hard-hitting and focused effort than Trump’s losing performance in Debate One — and you’re probably not going to abandon Trump now.
Morning Joe hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinksi — who haven’t been Trump’s biggest fans — had nothing but positive things to say about Trump’s “epic” performance:
As for the bettors, they increased Trump’s chances of winning the election during the debate by 2.3 percentage points. Not a huge jump — but he did what he needed to do.
