Trump: Burn the flag? Go to jail

22

Bleeding heart liberals around the country have responded to Donald Trump’s election by throwing temper tantrums, rioting, and burning American flags. As for that last heinous act, Trump suggested Tuesday that there should be consequences for burning the flag — including jail time:

However despicable, the U.S. Supreme Court has recognized flag burning as a constitutionally protected form of free speech, something that House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy pointed out Tuesday:

“In my neck of the woods, people don’t their flags — they actually honor their flags. I don’t see why someone would want to burn it,” Mr. McCarthy, California Republican, said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

“But we have a First Amendment right. But where I come from you honor the flag,” he said. “If someone wanted to show their First Amendment right, I’d be afraid for their own safety, but [we’ll] protect our First Amendment.”

But Jason Miller, a spokesman for the Trump transition team, said on CNN that “flag burning should be illegal”:

“I think most Americans would agree with me that flag burning should be illegal,” Mr. Miller said. “It’s completely despicable.”

“It’s completely ridiculous, and I don’t think there’s a big universe of people out there who support flag burning. It’s terrible, and it’s despicable,” he said.
Do you think there should be consequences for burning the American flag? Let us know in the comments!

The idea of “flag burning” as a “protest” should be construed as a hate crime against our VETERANS that give their ALL to make sure you have freedom. and the people of America that LOVE their Country.

You don’t like it here, use another one of our freedoms and LEAVE. (just leave your passport, or any other form of ID, GIVE UP your citizenship, and don’t come back) Don’t let the door hit you where the good LORD split you! BYE BYE!

Simple fix; burn the flag, do a mandatory seven year term in the U.S. Military, preferable the U.S. Marine Corp. Walk away from that and you’ll get a dishonorable discharge that will follow you the rest of your life severely limiting your civilian career opportunities. Your either a Patriot or your Marxist Scum !

      Here Here! hahahahahahahahahahahah …

    Quote from Paul Harvey:
    America typically uses three boxes to settle political problems with the Left;
The first box is the voting box. Failing that then the jury box, Failing that then the Cartridge Box.

    • NowYouKnow

My favorite Paul Harvey was after describing the crime and capture of a horrendous criminal, he would close the story by saying “He would want you to know who he was. That’s all for now. Good day!”. Wouldn’t that be nice these days.

A true American, the voice of sanity and reason in an earlier America where we all shared a common dream and most sought a job, not to a free ride; Good Day !

  • ONLYJB1

Yes sir! Freedom of speech is one thing, but burning of a national symbol is not part of this! To me
Burn Our flag and you committed treason! Take your pick, HANG or SHOT! Very simple.

    • jspurr01

      Come get me!

      • ONLYJB1

You wanting me to come get you? Why? If it’s because you enjoy burning our flag, that so many have given their ultimate sacrifice to defend; then I don’t believe you want me to come get you. You may not favor the outcome.

  • John C Raby

Real simple; Burn our flag we burn your welfare check. Sneak our borders we give you a job building the dam wall … at minimum wage less $15.00/hr. Vote as a border sneaker we shoot you.

Mr. Trump is right to a point, but burn the flag, go to the gallows!

    • wellilltellya

hear tell IRAN will DECAPITATE for flying at half mast ? there are LAWS here in our country to STOP this DESECRATION of AMERICAN FLAG! WHY are they not being USED ?

      • WVF

        We are a lawless nation!

  • wellilltellya

there is already a LAW in place JUST FOR such incredible DISRESPECT of our NATIONS FLAG, ck out 18 U.S Code ss700 DESECRATION of AMERICAN FLAG ? specifically states gathering a crowd as to make public display of such DISRESPECT for AMERICA FLAG law is there TIME FOR SOMEONE to USE IT?

  • BlackBart1955

The First Amendment has nothing to do with it. Back in England, in those days, if you dared to speak out against a tyrannical act of the king or government, you would be escorted to the gallows and have your head roll. Our Founding Fathers wanted our Constitution to protect us from that happening in this country. It guarantees us the right to speak out against a tyrannical act of the President or government. That’s all it means, and certainly doesn’t mean we can burn our flag.
    .
There are already laws concerning our flag that few people know or abide, but they ARE there. I remember from the Vietnam Protesters that there Are serious penalties for burning the flag already in place.

This BURNING the flag is like SPITTING on every Person in America and shows their disrespect for America in general and SAYS to ANYBODY else that they have absolutely NO RESPECT for America and should be deported to a country that would let then burn flags.

      • BlackBart1955

I don’t understand why you posted that under my comment. What I was saying is that they cannot burn the flag and then try to hide under the First Amendment for protection of Freedom of Speech. Then I stated that there are already laws in place, the same laws that were used against the flag burners during the Vietnam War.
Yes it is disrespectful, VERY disrespectful to burn the flag. That’s what I was saying. And when they do there ARE law that’ll “burn them” when they receive their due process of law.

        • donald540

First of all if you look at your VOTING under your comment you will see I vote FOR your comment and secondly I was saying a simular statement to what you were saying.
I only said it a different way.

          • BlackBart1955

I’m sorry for my misunderstanding. I don’t know how, on this site, to find who liked or disliked my posts. But I agree with your posts, and thank you for your participation and your patience.

          • donald540

You look at the bottom left corner of your comment at the “UP” or “Down” arrows and hold your curser over one of them and the list will show up of the ones that liked your comment.
The “Down” arrow only removes your “LIKE” from THAT comment.

          • donald540

Also the UPPER RIGHT corner is a sign (sometimes an inverted “V” and sometimes other signs) that tells you things you can do to “YOUR” comment.
Sometimes you have to click on it to get the information.

I watched a kid burn the flag and then suffered the worst beating I have ever witnessed. The first amendment protects free speech, but burning the flag is NOT a means of SPEECH…….it’s an abomination.
