Here’s how the game of life works: People want stuff — a lot of stuff — but they realize they will never make enough money to buy most of the stuff they desire. This isn’t earthshaking news, just a normal part of life.
When it starts to become somewhat problematic is when people are given stuff for free. That’s when Ringer Rule No. 387 comes into play, to wit: When you give someone something for free, he will expect that product or service to always be given to him at no cost.
But it gets worse, because it then brings into play Ringer Rule No. 388: Once someone gets something without paying for it, human nature takes over and that person not only wants to continue getting the product or service for free, he wants more and more of it. At that point, free stuff becomes a much bigger problem, because what started out to be a desire becomes, in the mind of the recipient, a “need.”
End of story? Unfortunately, no. It gets even worse. As a person gets more and more free stuff — human nature sets in again and he starts demanding that it be given to him in ever-increasing amounts. So what was originally merely a desire is now elevated from a “need” to a “right.” And once that line is crossed, property rights — which are real rights that every person inherits at birth — are subordinated to manufactured rights, which are subjectively created out of thin air.
Put simply, in order to give anyone free stuff, the money to pay for it has to be taken from someone else, which means violating another person’s property rights. The true socialist, of course, has no problem with such criminality, but, as Margaret Thatcher pointed out, it works only until you run out of other people’s money.
The right to get paid after your employer fires you (“unemployment benefits”) is a perfect example of a manufactured right. The right to get free food (“food stamps,” etc.) is another good example of a manufactured right. The right to receive free healthcare — a topic that is now very much in the news — is also a manufactured right.
Healthcare is an especially serious problem, because it’s literally a matter of life and death. No humane person wants to see anyone suffer or die as a result of not having adequate healthcare, so it’s a difficult issue with which to grapple. But in order for everyone to be covered by healthcare, the money needed to achieve such a goal has to be taken from people by force, which is right in line with the thinking of corrupt politicians who believe that spreading the wealth is their sacred duty.
Thus, the strategy of the most immoral of all politicians (Democrats) was to push through a healthcare bill (“Obamacare”) by changing the voting rules of Congress to suit their needs, then get one corrupt Supreme Court justice to, in effect, rewrite the bill (in lieu of ruling on its constitutionality) to conform to his desire to make it the law of the land.
Which brings us to today, when everyone but Bernie Sanders and Ronald McDonald realizes that Obamacare is disintegrating before our very eyes. Many conservatives are rejoicing at Obamacare’s death spiral, but that’s only because they do not understand that Barack Obama is actually on track to achieving his goal.
Understand that his real objective was to first get people to accept the notion that healthcare is a right, and polls show that in that regard his healthcare agenda has been a huge success. And now that millions of people are getting free healthcare at the expense of those who have to pay their own way, they are, predictably, demanding that Obamacare not be repealed.
Thus, the fact that Obamacare is now dying at an accelerating rate is irrelevant to them. No matter how many times they are told that the system is failing (which was by design), they don’t care. After all, if healthcare is a right, it’s not their problem how the government pays for it.
Now many weak-need Republicans who are up for reelection are starting to panic. They have their election finger in the air, but they simply aren’t sure which way the wind is blowing — or, more important, in which direction it will be blowing on election day 2018.
If they help to get a Republican healthcare bill approved, voters might throw them out. On the other hand, if they leave Obamacare in place, healthcare will be all but nonexistent in America and other voters may throw them out as well. What’s a corrupt politician to do?
In truth, there is only one solution to healthcare, and it’s something that the pitchfork crowd doesn’t want to hear: Get government completely out of the healthcare business! And since that isn’t going to happen, you can take it to the bank that all this will end up exactly where Barack Obama intended it to end up: a government-run, single-payer healthcare system. Obamacare, as publicly aired videos have made clear, was cleverly set up to fail in order to assure this outcome.
So, in the end, it isn’t really the Dirty Dems who are responsible for destroying America’s once great healthcare system. The real culprit is — as is always the case — the ignorant masses who beg to be duped. Such a masochistic desire is a result of their lack of knowledge combined with an incurable urge for something for nothing. Rest assured that the final outcome is going to be very painful to a majority of the population.
The bottom line is that it’s the same old story: People really do get the government they deserve. Politicians are simply criminals who are more than happy to give them what they want — or at least promise to give them what they want — in exchange for gaining more power over them and ensuring that they can continue looting the public treasury.
Now, let’s all sit back and enjoy watching those shameless politicians twisting and turning themselves into pretzels for the next year and a half trying to guess which way to go on healthcare “reform.” And may the worst weasels among them go down to bitter defeat.
