A new poll shows Florida voters aren’t keen on helping Democrats maintain filibuster-strength numbers in the U.S. Senate.
The latest statewide survey by the Florida Atlantic University Business and Economics Polling Initiative finds incumbent Democrat Senator Bill Nelson with a slim 42 percent to 40 percent lead over Governor Rick Scott.
Scott, who has already established an exploratory committee to raise funds the for race, is all but certain to announce he will run.
Despite voting for Obamacare, Nelson was able to win re-election in 2012 with 55 percent of the vote against Congressman Connie Mack IV, by outraising him 2-1 in campaign funds.
Scott, however, is expected to be a much stronger fundraiser and opponent.
